OF DOCUMENTARY EVIDENCE

Section 61 of the Evidence Act, 1872—Proof of contents of documents.—The contents of documents may be proved either by primary or by secondary evidence.

Comments

Admission of contents

(i)                A man may lie but a document will never lie, Afzauddin Ansary v. State of West Bengal (1997)2 Crimes 53 (Cal).

(ii)             Admission of documents amounts to admission of contents but not its truth;
